I will be leading 3 different sessions on the ISD-Wide PD day on October 14th, 2015. Below is a list of each session and what will be covered. I hope this will be helpful to you when you are making a decision on which sessions to attend.
Session #1 - Do More with Google Apps
Most, if not all of the schools present at the PD Day have Google Apps for Education (GAFE). I will delve into ways to get the most out of what Google has to offer--all of which is free and included with every single school account. I will touch upon Google Music, Google Photos, Google Hangouts, Youtube and Google Classroom. This session will move at a break-neck pace to cram everything in and is intended as a nexus point for you to start exploring what's available to you in GAFE.
Session #2 - Naiku Basics
This session is aimed at people who've either never used Naiku before or have used it very little. I will be covering the basics of what Naiku can do for you, how to login and create different types of assessments, and the best practices for creating tests and questions that can be used repeatedly. If you already use Naiku quite a bit, then you probably won't learn as much in this session.
Session #3 - Creative Writing Through Game Creation with Twine
Twine is a web-based software that can be used on any type of computer. The object of Twine is to create a text-based game much like a Choose-Your-Own-Adventure story. I will introduce Twine and go through steps to creating simple games along with ideas on how best to utilize Twine in the classroom with your students. No coding is necessary, but you may find yourself learning a little HTML without even realizing it! Twine will encourage your students to approach creative writing in a whole new way.
